Our Organisation

Welcome to your Parent Teacher Association Ltd (PTA) at Quarry Bay School. All parents of children attending ESF schools are members of their PTA, so we warmly welcome you and hope you will find participating a worthwhile experience for yourself and your children.

There are 17 members on the QBS PTA Executive Committee, which comprises of parents, teachers and the Senior Leadership Team (SLT). Ms Fiona Bishop (parent) is the current Chairperson. We look forward to meeting you personally one day, but in the meantime, login to The Gateway (TG) and browse to the ‘Documents>School Documents' section and you will find our PTA Committee list in the PTA section. Your committee is elected annually at the AGM, which is held in October. Nomination forms for anyone wishing to join the committee can be found in the PTA AGM folder in the ‘School Documents’ section mentioned above on TG.

Purpose & Focus

We are all passionate about helping QBS to maintain and develop its position as a student-centred and innovative school for all of our children. We achieve this aim through regular consultations (twice a term) on educational matters and by organizing events which raise funds for the school and local charities, as well as provide opportunities for the QBS community to spend time together. Members of the PTA Executive Committee also sit on the School Council and the Committee of Parents (ComPar).

Our Services

As well as the above, the PTA provides two main services to the school: the student bus service and the school shop. Ms Dorothy Ho is the PTA Administrator and she looks after the buses; Ms Amy Lau is the Shop Supervisor and Ms Mona Diwan is the PTA Co-ordinator who supports all of our operations. Achievements

We are proud to be a successful PTA which really does make a difference to our children’s experience at QBS. A few examples of events we’ve held include the ever-scary Halloween Disco, Christmas Fairs, a Walkathon, a Bring & Buy Sale and the Popcorn Sales. School equipment funded by the PTA includes interactive whiteboards, laptop computers, new books for the Learning Centre and various play equipment for use at break and lunch times. Your Role

But our work is never done, and our next major target is to raise funds to support the development of learning spaces by providing internal fittings and furnishings. In order to achieve this, we need your help. Your participation in events will benefit your family in more ways than just raising funds for your children’s school. It will enable you to make new friends, get to know the teachers and staff better, and show your children that joining in community events has positive outcomes for everyone. Communicating With Us

We are keen to communicate with our members so our Chairperson regularly contributes to the school newsletter. If you have any suggestions, comments or questions for us, please email them to ptasuggestions@qbs.edu.hk. They will go directly to our Chairperson.

Did you know that there is a small PTA Lounge at school where you can rest in comfort while waiting for your child? Free tea and coffee and a PTA book swap are available – all next door to the PTA Office.
