Senior Leadership Team

QBS is a large school that requires efficient management and positive leadership, it is led and managed by a team of four senior staff.

School Principal: Debra Gardiner

Debra Gardiner became the Principal of QBS in August 2006 and prior to that she had been working as a Deputy Principal at Sha Tin Junior School which is another ESF school in the New Territories. Prior to moving to HK Debra was a Headteacher for 9 years in the UK. She also spent some time working as a Literacy Consultant in the UK supporting the implementation of the National Literacy Strategy. Vice-Principal (Upper School) : Ray Atkinson

Ray Atkinson has been a Vice Principal at QBS since September 1999 and during this time he has carried out a variety of leadership roles within the school. Prior to moving to HK Ray was Headteacher of a school in Nottingham (UK) for 6 years. He is currently in charge of the Upper School (Y4, Y5, Y6) and as well as ensuring high quality learning for students in the upper school, he is also responsible for the safety and well being of students and staff within his department.

Vice-Principal (Lower School) : Jason Taylor

Jason Taylor has been a Vice Principal at QBS since August 2007. Prior to joining QBS Jason was working at Harrow International School in Bangkok, were he was Head of the Early Years campus. He is currently in charge of the Lower School (Y1, Y2, Y3) and as well as ensuring high quality learning for students in the lower school, he is also responsible for the safety and well being of students and staff within his department.

PYP Coordinator : Donna Morley

Donna Morley joined QBS in August 2007. Prior to joining QBS Donna worked at Clearwater Bay School and prior to that she was working in the UK as a Key Stage 2 Coordinator with responsibility for Mathematics and PSHE. Donna is responsible for the implementation and development of the IBO Primary Years Programme across the school. Leadership is about winning over ‘hearts and minds‘ and inspiring the whole school community to work together creatively so that we create a synergy that allows us to exceed our dreams and achieve more than we thought we were capable of.

Management is about putting appropriate structures in place and making sure that they work, so that the school runs efficiently.
